Department of Geology and Geophysics: SOEST academic department.

School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology: Academic departments, research institutes, federal cooperative programs, and support facilities located at UH Manoa campus, Coconut Island (in Kaneohe Bay), the Makai Research Pier near Makapuu Point, and UH Marine Center (Snug Harbor) at Honolulu Harbor. SOEST's larger ships and submersibles are operated from the University Marine Center at Honolulu Harbor and the Makai Research Pier.

University of Hawai‘i, NASA Astrobiology Institute: A partnership with NASA to conduct integrated interdisciplinary research and education in astrobiology. The U.H. Team is focusing on scenarios involving the sources and distribution of water in planetary systems and the delivery and incorporation of water into rocky habitable planets.
