Projects:
1. Synthesis and characterization of superhard materials in the B-C-N system.2. Phase transformations and equation of state of ABO3 (e.g., CuGeO3 and PbZrO3) and ABO4 compounds (e.g., GaPO4, KReO4, CaMoO4, CdWO4) under high pressures and temperatures using synchrotron-based x-ray diffraction and a diamond-anvil cell. 3. In situ determination of the ilmenite-perovskite phase boundary in ilmenite (FeTiO3) using synchrotron-based x-ray diffraction and a large-volume high P/T press. 4. Study of ferroelectric materials such as KNbO3, KH2PO4, KD2PO4 under high pressure using x-ray diffraction and dielectric constant measurements. 5. Characterization of the insensitive high-explosive material (IHE) tri-amino tri-nitrobeneze (TATB) using Raman spectroscopy, infrared absorption and x-ray diffraction.
