HIGP researchers are studying tectonic processes on Earth by deploying cutting-edge Global Positioning System (GPS) arrays and applying innovative data acquisition and reduction techniques. Current projects involve geodetic measurements of surface deformation at Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes, and expanding the applications of GPS to ocean platforms for tsunami detection, meteorology, and measurements of ocean surface height.
