TRY using previous knowledge while examining the state of thecoral reefs in Hawai'i and suggesting the remedies to the coral reefs destruction.

Remind students that Kailua Bay is located in the Hawaiian Islands and get them think about the state of coral reefs in Hawaii.

Prompt students to evaluate the state of coral reefs in the Hawaiian Islands.

Ask students to evaluate the state of coral reefs in the Hawaiian Islands and more specially Kailua Bay. Use the map of Kailua Bay so that students can orient themselves.

Prompt students to think about whether or not there are threats to the coral reefs in Kailua Bay. Are there threats minor or relatively serious?

Prompt each team to suggest remedies by referring them to sites designed to prevent coral reefs' destruction such as 25 Things you can do to help save coral reefs and Pledge for kids to sign to prevent coral reef destruction

Ask each group to present their remedies to the coral reef's destruction.

Ask each student to Write a letter
to the Governor of State
that they belong to (RD-2).

In thise letter, students are supposed to inform Governor of their findings in which the problem analyses and problem solutions about the Reefs In Danger clearly were written.

Ask each student to read their letter to the class.

Prompt students to complete the reflection page in their journal. See the activity sheet: Reflection page
