All the faculty members associated with Space Grant teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in astronomy, planetary geosciences, and other STEM disciplines.
University-level courses created by Space Grant-affiliated personnel include:
- U. H. Hilo, Department of Natural Sciences.
NSCI 394I/494I, Space Education in the Elementary Classroom. Usually offered Fall semesters, this course for pre-service and in-service teachers provides content, activities, and resources to improve teaching methods in science.
- U. H. Manoa, Department of Geology and Geophysics.
GG 460, Geological Remote Sensing. Course website. Offered Spring semesters to upper level undergraduate and graduate students as well as in-service teachers and workers in the community. The course covers the basics of image generation, collection, and processing, the principles of reflected and emitted energy, synthetic aperture radar, and applications of all these to solving geological problems. A computer-intensive lab gives hands-on experience in applying the topics covered in lectures.
- U. H. Manoa, Department of Geology and Geophysics.
GG 461, Geospatial Information. Offered Fall semesters to upper level undergraduate and graduate students as well as in-service teachers and workers in the community. The course builds on GG 460 and adds the concepts of high-precision GPS for the collection of field data and collating both the field-derived and image-based data into a Geographical Information System (GIS).
- U. H. Manoa, Department of Geology and Geophysics.
GG 673C, Petrology of the Moon and Mars. Offered alternating years to graduate students. The course covers the mineralogical and compositional characteristics of extraterrestrial matter.
