Kilauea volcano, Hawaii, is being studied by the NASA EOS IDS Team because it is an ideal test site for new field instruments, and because we obtain a lot of satellite data over the volcano.

We are studying the degassing of Kilauea in a number of ways, including field observations of the gas released, satellite observations of the plume, lidar measurements of the plume, numerical modeling of the plume dispersal.
