Tour Through the Solar System

Lesson 4: Martian Landforms

Impact craters, glaciers, and volcanoes, oh my! Can all of these features be found on one body in our Solar System? No! They can be found on at least two, the Earth and Mars. And most bodies in our Solar System have impact craters and volcanoes. This lesson will allow students examine factors that control crater size (kinetic energy = 1/2×Mass×velocity2), investigate how glaciers flow, and experience how volcanoes grow and how viscosity affects volcano shape.
