Tour Through the Solar System

Lesson 5: Asteroids and Meteorties

Meteorites fall from the heavens, but what can they tell us about our planet and our Solar System? Where should you look to find a meteorite and how will you know if you've found one? In this lesson students will learn how to identify meteorites from meteor-wrongs (i.e. Earth rocks). Through lecture and a hands lesson students will also be able to identify different meteorite types (e.g., stony, iron and stony-iron) and information that scientist can infer on the basis of each type.
